It appears that spring has maybe, finally, come to St Andrews. This past weekend, we enjoyed a combination of 80 degree weather and epic thunderstorms. On Sunday, we went out for a walk on the Coastal Path that turned into scrambling and climbing along the rocky coast when we were sidetracked by a potential bouldering location.
When we left the our flat, it was raining lightly, but we enjoyed a solid three hours of sunshine before heading back to avoid sunburn. As we walked down the street, the clouds rolled in and the most intense thunderstorm I've seen since my summers in Oklahoma started up. Since we had just left a beach full of picnicking families, I sort of wish we'd stuck around to see the chaos. A few hours later, it was back to a nice sunny evening. In addition to the crazy weather changes, we're also getting closer to June's 18 hours of daylight. However, based on the past week or so of nicer weather and more light than we've seen in a while, I am pretty sure the bit of summer we'll be able to spend here will be beautiful.
Here's more of Matt posing on rocks during our excursion. He calls this his "Leo from Titanic" look. I think it sort of looks like he is copying this statue.
School is pretty much finished here, and everyone is starting to scatter for the summer. Since bits and pieces of school will probably sneak in here more and more when I start being more involved next fall, here's a lovely shot of some of the Film Studies people at a dinner a few weeks ago. Keep in mind that I took this after a lot of food and wine had been consumed, and it's just from my phone, so it's not exactly the best picture ever. However, can you see a resemblance starting to develop between Matt and his supervisor?

Christ statue and Leo from Titanic are good guesses, but I'm going to go with the 25 year-old Avatar of Poseidon, God of the Sea.
ReplyDeleteAlso, that is a prime bouldering spot.
Also, which one is Matt's advisor?
Do Matt and his advisor always coordinate outfits? Also, your "summers in Oklahoma"? How have we not talked about this?
