Chelsea and I are leaving for Scotland September 15th, so we've created this blog to document our trip. Trip is putting it lightly though - for those of you that don't know, I'm starting a research-based PhD program at St. Andrews in St. Andrews, Scotland. I will be studying 'global film' in general, and several sites of filmmaking in Iran, India, and the States more specifically. My project will combine the study of philosophers concerned with time and subjectivity, such as Gilles Deleuze, Felix Guattari, and Henri Bergson, with the impact of 'minor cinemas' on filmgoing publics. But if you want to read about that, you can go to my academic/film review blog at http://cinemawithoutorgans.blogspot.com/.
This blog will probably consist of lighter fare. This will be my first time leaving the country besides going to Canada, and I'll be there for at least three years. Hopefully, when I come back I'll have a full-on Scottish accent - as well as be able to watch Scottish movies without subtitles. Both Chelsea and I will be posting here on separate blogger accounts, so look forward to stories, pictures, and the occasional movie.
Thanks for reading!
Way to pimp CwO already :)
ReplyDeleteAlright a blog with Chelsea ! I can finally reciprocate the lovely commenting I've come to rely on! I am so jealous of the Scotland adventure, I might have to look into flights and randomly show up on your doorstep!
ReplyDeleteChelsea, I hope to see a review of HITS and WL (more appropriate given the relocation to the UK). Hopefully this overseas experience will prove more long-lived than your last one :) See you in Bham in December and good luck to both of you!
ReplyDeleteWhat? No "That's so Gaelic?" I hand you gold and you trample on me.
ReplyDeleteMatt and Chelsea, Loving your blog and all the pics - including the food! Aunt Kath
